I take way to long to get back in the swing of things.

So we got back from a road trip to Colorado on Monday morning.   5:47 a.m. to be exact.  We left at 12 in the afternoon the previous day.  Now Dave and I have done this trip many times…before having kids.  This time around we stopped three times before we had to get gas once.  Potty stops, snack stops, run around stops, leaky diaper stops…

Aaaaand Dave thought it was bad having a wife with a small bladder!

Well, now we’ve been home for a full two days and I only have 2 loads of laundry done and 4 more loads have piled up.  Dave and my bags are still fully packed I’ve only gotten the toiletries out.  Obviously I’ve slacked on keeping my blog updated.  I did get dressed though, but it was only long enough to go get produce and milk.  And I kinda care more about catching up on my shows (and sleep) than catching up on my chores…

Well, I’m giving myself another day.  Then my morning alarm is going to be set and our schedule will get back to normal.

So I’m slow.  And I’m ok with that.  Thankfully my hubs is too.  It’s better to take time to recover than to go full speed ahead and completely burn out, right?  That’s what I’m going with.

I thought maybe my Bible’s concordance would make me feel “right” in the decision to take a few days off, um, it didn’t quite work that way.  The Word talks about finding rest in the shadow of His wings, about the seventh day being a Sabbath meant for rest, that He will give rest to our souls and He will lighten our burden.

I just don’t know if I can say I’m in God’s will while I lay on the floor with the boys watching tv and ignoring the fact that I should be making yogurt, and muffins, putting clothes away and balancing our check book…    I suppose I’ll call recovery time off now and get moving.  I’m not gonna promise I’ll be dressed and have my hair and make-up done, that I’ll get a work out in or even vacuum, but I’m gonna start moving.

I’ll go ahead and claim nap time as time to “rest in the shadow of his wings” and catch up on the devotional time I slept through this morning.

K- enough of me justifying my laziness.  I’m off to start a load of laundry…and maybe watch last weeks Chuck while I’m at it…
